Culture

Montenegro is certainly one of the most interesting spots in the world. Although it covers only about 14,000 km2 and has only about 670,000 inhabitants, its contribution to world cultural heritage is even greater. During the centuries of its rich history, Montenegro has survived and remained one of the brightest examples of the struggle for freedom and for its own existence. The Christian, Muslim, Illyrian, Byzantine, Turkish and Slovenian civilizations stepped in here, making Montenegro an eternal crossroads of culture and history.

Montenegro has changed its name many times. From the Latin region called Prevalis, through the medieval state of Zeta, to modern Montenegro, as the name changed, so did the space, thanks to all the civilizations that were shorter or longer on it, Montenegro turned into a mosaic of civilization traits. This quality of Montenegro is still its most valuable aspect in the world today.

Someone will say that her name, Montenegro, was brought by sailors for whom she looked like shrewd and dark from the shoreline because the mountains and hellish hills rose up above her warm coasts. Others would say that the enemies gave her that name because of the bad luck that would hit everyone if they tried to subdue it, in some ancient times. The truth is that they bear their name by those who named it - the Crnojevic dynasty. In addition to the Petrović dynasty, they remained the masters of a modern, small but proud Mediterranean country.

The most exotic mountain resort in Montenegro Durmitor National Park is rich with lakes, canyons, forests, and snow cirques. Numerous small lakes originated in the recesses of former glaciers lie at a height of 1,400 to 2,200 meters. The Black Lake is a locality known throughout the Balkans and no visit to Montenegro would be complete without visiting it. For speleologists, in particular, attractive caves, the Ice Cave with the most beautiful stalactites and stalagmites in this part of the Balkans is extremely attractive. They make everlasting ice of gorgeous shapes, and when it is known that the cave is at a height of 1,900 meters above sea level, then the pleasure is even greater. One of the special attractions of Durmitor is the highest source in the Balkans, at a height of 2,000 meters above sea level - Savina Voda.

If you look around the world and try to find the center, Montenegro will be closest to that point. Where the "six continents" merge, this country offers national parks, contrasts, and intersections worth visiting. It is the point from which you can embark on every European destination, but we are sure you will never forget it. She is, although small, always attracted the attention and sympathy of the great. They were painted and described by Tenison and Gladstone and Byron, Jaroslav Čermak, Evlija Čelebija and many other giants who unanimously gave, at different times, a portrait of a small but proud state. Throughout Montenegro, friends always traveled and arrived where they wanted, and as Njegoš once responded to a foreign military leader for the enemy, this time was much longer and harder. Europe is a mosaic of people and cultures, and Montenegro is Europe in a small size. She still offers her missing angles with boldness and curiosity. In a country of poets and warriors, a friend is always welcome, so all the well-wishers of Montenegro are awaiting with open doors and want you to meet her, so you become and remain part of her.
